II. European Ex-libris Congress, Lugano, Switzerland, 10–11 July, 1954
The second congress, which took place in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland and was organised by Carlo Chiesa, and presided over by the great wood-engraver Aldo Patocchi. About 45 participants attebnded the meeting. Lectures dealt with the following issues: “The Motif of Flying in the Bookplate” (Hans Heeren), “Bookplates of the Monastery of Einsiedeln” (Carlo Chiesa) and talk on methodology of collecting bookplates (Giulio Cisari). A proposal to found an international federation of ex-librists was adopted, although no follow-up took place.
